The first modern assault rifle, combining rifle power with submachine gun rate of fire. Too late to change the wars outcome, only 425,000 made. Hitler initially opposed its production. The concept directly inspired the AK-47. The name Sturmgewehr, or storm rifle, created the term assault rifle.
