About Tomahawk

Originally made from stone or bone, later from European iron trade goods. Used in hand-to-hand combat and thrown. Some incorporated a pipe bowl for smoking, symbolizing both war and peace. French traders called them tomahawks from Powhatan tamahaac. Vietnam-era soldiers still carried them.
